dumb shift light question!!!
I'm electronically challenged..
can I wire a shift light (like the auto meter quick-lite) to my check engine light?
reason: I could adjust it in neptune rtp
bad: If I have a cel it would blind me!

yes it will work, but you should use a relay to power the light...im not sure if the stock signal is strong enough to power such a powerful light such as a shift light. mine is actually wired like that.
I have an autometer shift light (from a monster tach) and like Joe said, use a relay or you will burn a resistor in the ecu. Dont ask me how I know
Works pretty good and it wont blind you. You may have to put the yellow cover on when it is dark though.

Just a regular four pin relay. Let the ecu ground the control side and use the other side to power the shift light when the ecu grounds it. I think my relay came out of a 2002 Civic under hood fuse box. I had to have something in a hurry!
