Default Does a tranny REALLY make a difference?

does a tranny REALLY give you better time? i've always thought lower gear ratios would be better but i've heard from many that even w/ different tranny set up's they get the same times.

Gearing along with tire size and compound are major factors. Here's one of the ongoing gearing threads from the Teg forum.

This I think has been discussed more than 1000 times and more than 1,000,000 replies have been made to the posts. A quick 2 line summary..

1.The faster you get thru the gears the faster you will run. (fact)
2.An Ls tranny is better because you can go 200mph(<joke) in 3rd (False)

quick video for you to watch>>

you think if ericks car had an ls tranny it would even go 10.99?? the car has gearing like a bike!!!

Eric from Honda Fiend ran 11.50 na with LS tranny and 25"s slick .It doesn't make sense to me but I guess it depends on your set up!

If he went 11.50s with an LS Tranny, he prolly woulda ran 10s with a proper tranny setup. Also, just cus it's an 'LS Tranny' doesnt mean the gears are LS.
