Clutch problem, please help ASAP!
I know this isnt drag racing but I need smart people.
Car: 1981 Honda civic CVCC Station wagon 1.5L 5 Speed
Clutch: Clutchmasters Stage 1 kit
Problem, I replace the clutch, pilot bearing, throwout bearing with all Clutchmaster parts, everything goes together fine including the spring on the throwout bearing. I install the tranny back into the car, adjust the clutch cable, go to drive it and it just grinds so I adjust the clutch cable more and it still grinds, keep adjusting till I know its way to much and it still grinding trying to get it into gears then it make a click from the pedal and it went to the floor and stuck down. I shut the car off had someone press the pedal while i kinda played with the fork and it went back to normal but it was higher so I adjusted the cable as far as it could go but there is still slack. So I start the car, press the clutch and it still grinds. I release the clutch pedal and it goes into gear acting as-if I am pressing the pedal in normally. I press the pedal and it grinds, release the pedal and it goes into gear, I press the pedal while it is in gear and the car moves. I know I have to remove the tranny but does anyone have any ideas on what could of happined? Do you think its a throwout beaing problem or pressure plate problem? I have done atleast a dozen clutches before and never seen this.

hmmmm maybe, it worked fine before but the clutch slipped due to its 180,000 miles on it.... I'll pull it apart now and see whats not right, if anyone has any other ideas though let me know or if anyone has done one in one of these old hondas and there is a trick? let me know
if your certain that its not a cable/adjustment problem then it sounds like the fork is bent or the pressure plate diaphragm release levers are damaged.
from what i read it sounds to me like you have the clutch cable adjusted to tightly, and its overthrowing the clutch...
also, when you had the transmission out, did you check to see if the "fork" that the cable attaches onto was free moving? on a recent job i just had, this fork was somewhat "frozen" it was a bitch to move, and would get stuck in certain postions.......then he would try to push the clutch in and it wouldnt do ****.....
