Default Cam Timming

I have a 96 b18c1 motor and the distributor is all the way advanced and i am still 3 deg retarted from stock
1. The timming belt is a after market belt and is longer

2. The head is shaved and making it a longer belt

3. It has a thinner head gasket

I myself think it is some of all and i am going to go with a Honda belt and get a set of cam gears, and with that bring the distributor back a bit then advance my cams and then bring the ignition timming up 2 deg

the car had a compression test done and it was cold it put out like 210 psi of comprestion

Is this going to be the right way to go about this and could there be anything else wrong

and the car does run strong it went 14.4 N/A and i had a cell from the obd2 ecu now i have the obd1 ecu with a convertion harness and it seems to me that it is running stronger

this is in a 95 hatch DX

i tryed posting it in the hybrid but no luck there

Mine is the same way, I have it all the way advanced and it is still off by like 3 degrees retarded. I think cam gears could correct this problem but Im not positive. Anyone? Thanks

The best way to extract the most power is to put it on a dyno

yes if you run a thinner head gasket or the head is milled you timming is retarded
