I heard that if you hold down the brake and press down the gas at the same time at the start of a race and let go of brake, you get a faster start. Is this bad for your car? Thanks!

yes Im sure thats bad and will void your warranty. Unless your car is under 5yr old/or less than 50,000 miles, then theres a good possibility that they will still cover it.

i am in a good mood tonight:
yes it is called power braking. you are "putting the car up in the converter"
there is a point in the converter where it will flash, when you press on the gas and the engine revs and start applying power. if you put it on the converter, the drive line is already loaded and ready to go, then when you dump the brake, you are higher in the power band where the engine makes more power. therefore you leave harder.
to be able to launch it higher, you need a "higher stall converter"
this does put un necessary wear on your trans also.

So THAT's how you do it! Floor the gas and the brake at the same time, who

line locks are useless unless it is set to the rear brakes to get on the converter. but to do a burnout it is a little easier on the rear brakes. never had a line lock or a jump valve on my t type. we just used aluminum drums and the parking brake. on other cars, what we used to do is run a "jump valve" it bypasses the prop valve sending all the brake pressure to the rear. an adn valve can do that too but the jump valve is basically a high duty line lock
but yeah t/s doesnt allow tranny brakes. idk if the trans could handle it, but it would be nasty.
