The regulator or alternator itself must have had a fault and happened to give out at that time. Bigger alternators are usually used for more amps not voltage since our cars run off 12v. Unless you have a large load.

I made 963whp with oem Denso Alternator, but i did buy brand new and it did help stablize my voltage thru-out my runs.

Im sure some do but everyone that i know personally who has tried to do that has had issues. Fuel pumps and ignition systems like to see at least 13.5-14.0 volts and your not going to get that from just a battery. Especially cars with a lot of electronics on it, twin fuel pumps, electric water pump, electric fan, and so on are probably drawing close to 75-80amps off the batter when everything is on at the same time. So you gotta think about that. The larger the amp draw the more its going to bring down the voltage as well.

Your fuel pumps especially will not be able to function correctly.

Why bother without running one, Alt and bracket are probably 15-20 lbs at the most and probably only take 2-3hp under full load to turn them. So why not just run one. Much safer.

The higher amp rating alt you can get as well should help and wont work as hard to keep up with everything. I know with all the stuff on my car on at the same time my poor 70 amp alt was having a hard time keeping up and keeping the battery charged especially with the headlights other stuff on. So im upgrading to a newer Sentra 100 amp alt and that should do the trick and not have issues.

hmm a deep cell will hold charge longer too so i mean i dont know how many volts it would go down after a burnout and 10 second run. my freinds shop alcohol dragster runs a odyssey battery no alt. but then again it basiclly only powers the datalogger and all gauges, everything else is mechanical, no water pump, mech. alcohol injection. So i can see where u are coming from

I am changing to a 16v but right now I have a 175amp alternator from Boss. It helped a bunch for my setup.

i tried OEM, aftermarket, aftermarket rewound, custom wound ect

only way to get "stable" voltage is go with a good 16 volt setup...

Honda Odyssey alt is 140amps. That should help keep the voltage up, along with a good battery
