Re: 2013 Rules
Radials are only harder on parts when you are hard on the car. Wheel hop and shake can be tuned out. And like it was stated before, Trans and axle technology is light years ahead of where it was back then.
I don't care much about the size, the 225 like you stated will make this easier on gearing etc. I just stated the 235 cause that's how I setup a lot of my street customers.
I think this could become a great class an will attract and can relate to a lot of street people and will for sure make things diffent inbetween the two classes. It will force the guys at the top of the true street class to make the necessary changes to run in sfwd/super street.

Re: 2013 Rules
The 62mm is an ok idea, but it will get just like the 67mm stuff! I know you al know where I am going with that. But the drag radial stuff is truly limited especially if its a dot tire such as the 225

Re: 2013 Rules
You can do that but what alot of people dont understand is what will work on one engine wont work on another. For instance K to B, xxmm turbine wheel doesnt work well on a K cause its too small but on a B its too laggy. You can run a 100mm turbine but if the compressor cant keep up it doesnt matter. Thats why the inducer is still the king of controlling power output.
Need to keep "checking" the turbos simple. Tear downs are fine and dandy but time consuming, a simple go/no-go gauge is all thats needed. But you can stop all that with just limiting the tire. Just like the domestic world, outlaw radial then 275 radial, now outlaw 10.5 is converting to outlaw 8.5. Need to just change with the times.

Re: 2013 Rules
we've tried a drag radial class, turnout was low every time.
IFO has a 62mm class. it's called Forced Induction Sport. It's our most popular class.
We host our events almost every weekend across the country. The classes are built around the type of cars that actually show up, not the e-racer talk.

Re: 2013 Rules
patiently waiting for the new rules so i can make a decision on what turbo to order. what started off as a sfwd car slowly began to diminish into something for a more affordable class like 10.50 index. however if the true street class really get turned into a 62mm class id be all in for it. it should bring in a nice amount of racers, because itll be more affordable...

Re: 2013 Rules
huh? how in the world will a 62mm class be more affordable? True street wont see many changes.
In the end this is heads up drag racing and if you think for a second that just because a 62mm limit will be brought in it will cut the cost of building a competitive car you are nuts.

Re: 2013 Rules
just figured, smaller turbo, less power output, less expensive parts needed to make competitive power. however you are right afer i sat and thought about it. im sure if this happened turbo companies will begin to produce better technology on these 62's and it will end up just like the 67's where they are making tons of power. either way still waiting on the rules because my car is sitting waiting...

Re: 2013 Rules
We will be allowing forward facing turbos in True Street at IREV and WCF for 2013. We will be addressing the 2013 rules here very soon. We are looking at possibly making some clarifications or restrictions on more than just inducer size in True Street in an attempt to keep from the class being carried away to far. It was intended to be a mid to low 9 sec class, but some of you guys are just to darn smart and fast, haha.
I fear that if True Street stays a 8 sec class, that it will be to intimidating for new blood to want to come into the class. I feel that True Street needs to stay in the 9s. The biggest reason I added the Super Street class at IREV and WCF was so the SFWD cars could come in and race with no changes and also to help move some of the "cherry pickers" out of True Street where they shouldnt be.

should be like 96mm or something.
I like how you set the rules on the compressor cover for your sfwd class , just need to police and inforce the rules . looking forward to your events next year.

Re: 2013 Rules
Jason just make sure the 67mm turbo xducer on the compressor is less then 102mm .
should be like 96mm or something.

You talking about this rule? This very exact rule makes every damn turbo with a "ported" compressor housing deemed "illegal". I guess no ported housings at all is what the rule should say. Right Jason?
Turbochargers: Turbochargers are measured at the inducer wheel where the leading edge of the inducer wheel meets the housing. The contour from the inducer to the exducer must be continuous without steps. The use of restrictor plates, stepped inlet housings or reducers in an effort to limit compressor size opening is not acceptable. Compressor housing cannot be modified from the leading edge of the inducer to the trailing edge of the exducer. All inducer surge ports must be perpendicular to the shaft and limited in location to the leading edge of the inducer. See chart below for turbo size restrictions.

Re: 2013 Rules
Someone tell me if i am the only one that sees it this way? A 62mm turbo limit for a True Street class car... winner payout $300? A 67mm turbo limit for FWD class, dash needed and with a winner payout of $1200... and FIP with the same payout with whatever transmission and lexan and no dashboard needed with a 76mm limit? I'm sorry but the payout is way too small to have all this commotion about rule changes? Yes I agree their needs to be separation between the classes, but i would assume that the real racers ill step up into a higher class with better payouts! I would rather stick to a 67mm and a consistent 800WHP and take my chances of a bigger payout against those boys with dog gear boxes and 1000+ WHP! Hell, don't the ladies in bikini contest get more than $300? Best of Car Show gets $500! Can we argue to find a way increase the payout for a 62mm class instead of crying about who's legal or stepping up/down, just my .03 cents!

Not to knock your aspirations of building a car... but shouldn't "True Street" be an entry level car WITHOUT a 3 page parts list and 5 race seasons build time?
