Default Degreasing and cleaning engine bay. 1993 Accord (Saftey precautions?)

I want to clean my engine bay the best that I can so since I've never done this before what are some precautions I should take? I know covering up the distributor is one thing, but is there any other things I should be careful of? I have a factory air intake, but should I still cover it up? Finally, what is a good degreaser for the engine bay or another product to use? Once I'm finished with cleaning should I let the everything dry? Start it right up and drive it? Or should I just blow as much water out as I can with an air gun?.... Thanks...

you can search and there should be some DIY on cleaning your bay, but a few pointers. You should also cover your battery and not spray the electronics straight on just as a precaution it really shouldn't matter if they get wet but just to be careful. as for cleaning products, simple green is what I use and it does a really good job, just spray it on let it sit for a min and spray it off. As for drying it I usually just start it up and take off you can blow the engine down if you want but it wont make a difference.
