Icon6 I am slamming on everything!

I have an 87 CRX SI, 1.5 FI.

I want to say who ever had this before me... has the torsion bars adjusted and lowered as low as they will go... I slam on EVERYTHING... BOOM, SLAM, CRUNCH, etc etc....

So, should I adjust it back up and see if that fixes the issue or get new struts and shocks as well...

I did the struts in my 96 rolla with NO PROBLEM... IDK how much of a PITA it will be to do struts and shocks on this though...

maybe you guys could show some threads on how to's and such? I'm kinda lost and still searching around the Honda world for help...

Thanks guys!!!!

Changing struts on these cars is dead simple, no spring compressor needed.

The trick is to grind off the brakeline bracket on the side of the front struts so that you can mount the bottom of the strut about an inch or so lower in the knuckle. You will also need to grind a groove in the side of the strut to allow the tightening bolt to get in there, but it can all be done with a Dremel.

Adding a set of camber plates will also raise the top mounting point so you get some extra suspension travel there as well.

Come on over to www.redpepperracing.com, a web site devoted to the 1st Gen CRX/3rd Gen Civic.

(for the front struts)

Front ride height is adjusted by turning bolt #33 in this pic. http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...RONT+LOWER+ARM

use a tape measure between the bottom of the fender & top of the tire

If I had a picture of the actual place on the car to wrench... I could get it done... call it a handicap!!!

Thanks for everyone's information so far... I will look around for the nut to adjust... but if I had a picture of the actual car.., it would be so much better.

Sometimes the answers aren't always spelled out for you. Sometimes you have to think, research, and maybe buy a manual now and then. The post above you does have a picture. Maybe you should search for a way to lower the car, and just to the reverse procedure????

redpepperracing has a link to a service manual at the top of the page. Look in the front suspension section and it will have a pic (drawing?) of the torsion bar adjusting nut. Now go find that pic and adjust your car's height back up where it is supposed to be!

THe better solution and safer solution is to get stiffer torsion bars, 24mm or 27mm instead of the stock 19mm. THen get some good suspension such as the Teins and they will allow you to run lower without always bottoming out.

The problem with modifying the shock to sit lower in the knuckle is that they can slip out and casue a major and even deadly accident.
