Charging Issue

Charging Issue
I can't find topic for model year: 1989 Accord LX
If this post is in the wrong area; please advise.
Alternator quites charging after a few minutes. Appears after I put load on circuit. Puts out 14.85 volts then drops to 12.05 volts.
This has occurred after someone replaced the engine with a used engine.
I have removed the alternator and had it tested. Shop guy says it tests good.
I noticed that Fuse 24 (PTC?) had blown at some point. Replaced it and it did not blow. Still good.
Battery tests good with load test. Holds about 12.85 volts
Not sure how to find this problem.
thanks for any help

Re: Charging Issue
IIRC some models have an energy saving feature and the alternator runs intermittently... but doubt that it was done for an 89.
In doubt install a real voltmeter with a needle...
May be have the alternator tested while installed in the car... most auto parts stores can do it. At least the engine will be at operating temp. The advantage is that you test the battery as well.
