the flexable tube from the ex mani to the intake duct; what's the purpose? can i weld that shut?

so the carb doesn't ice over in cold weather, it sucks hot air from the exhaust metal.

i try my best. a lot of people just get rid of it as long as the temps don't get below about 40 degrees. remember, moving air is colder than standing air.. one thing you can do that a lot of people do is actually cut the air cleaner box around the filter, so it's just the top and bottom and filter. no attachments or anything. i'll see if i can dig up a picture.

i see what you're talking about, but i'm afraid it gets too cold around here in the winter to mod the intake. i haven't dealt with carburators much so any help would be good.
