You have not waisted our time. The EG is probably even better solution -probably my next purchase when the 3rd bites the dust, as you have observed, the parts are readily available, even in the junkyards. The 3rd gen can be challenging at times.

2hr oneway drive... too much...

BTW stay away from auto trans, honda does not have an oil filter for the trans oil, so after 70K your trans will show signs of problems.
