Default xm and ipod at the same time

i want to get the ipod adapter for my pioneer deck but i already have xm. they both connect to the same port in the back, so my question is obviously, how the hell do i hook them up at the same time? is there some sort of splitter that i need to buy or somthing? or is it impossible?

It is possible, I do not know of any "splitter" that you can get, you will probably have to make your own, or have one made. 94

bump

there has got to be a good way to do this. i don't think pioneer would make a deck that supports, xm, sirius, ipod, and a disk changer, and then make it impossible to connect more than one at the same time.

at least i hope they didn't do that or i am very pissed off at pioneer right now.

either one of of those should have an IP-bus pass thru, so you can daisy chain them together.

Doesn't your XM tuner have a pass through? I think they all do, Pioneer and XM Direct. Do you have a 2005 unit? I know I have done XM and aux input. I don't see you having a problem as long as you have a new unit.

so you guys are basically saying hook it up in a chain like this

[xm universal tuner box]-------[xm pioneer adapter]--------[pioneer ipod adapter box]--------[head unit]

will it all work properly like this?

I'm with you on that one. i know where i worked, we put a gexp920xm and a cdxp686 to a ip bus deck without parts.

it should go: Head unit-xm-ipod. Although I think with the Pioneer Ipod, it can go either way. With alpine, the xm must go first because it doesn't have a through.

pioneer kenwood alpine xm always goes first,he did not mention wether or not he had pioneer xm,but using the universal xm with the pioneer adapter plug, you may have to experiment either that or call xm tech(terk technologies if your xm is terk)

the xm is specifically for pioneer. my head unit is xm ready. no matter what brand of stereo you have you have to buy the universal tuner box and then that box plugs into your adapter box of whatever brand stereo you have. they could have probably just made xm tuner boxes or alpine tuner boxes etc. but then they wouldn't be able to get another $50 out of you for the adapter box.

anyway i'm going to buy the ipod adapter and i'll let you guys know how it worked out for future reference.
