what does dual zone mean?

Usually, it means that it's got 2 different trigger inputs. Usually, one would hook up doors to a progressive trigger (zone 1) and an instant trigger (zone 2) for hood and/or trunk...

It may also mean an impact sensor mounted near the front of the car and another in the back. The closer you get to a sensor, the more sensitive it becomes to impacts. So if your sensor is mounted near the dash, a light impact near the trunk won't set it off as would the same impact near the A-pillar.
