Head units are like computers. You can wait forever. A new better one is always around the corner. I thought alpine released all their new headunits a few months ago. I don't think they will have anything new until next year, but you never know.

"better" can be used loosely. Alot of times they just change the model # slightly and change the color of a button or two, and jack the price up some compaired to the previous year's model.

They just released all their new models around the begining of summer. To tell you the truth the only improvement between this year and last year is that the mp3 decks are cheaper, I don't like the new ones as much because they don't have the flip down face. I would recommend you to buy one soon, find a sale where they garentee the price %110 for like 6 weeks or something. I would suggest that you go for it now.

Headunit models generally change each year, except for the top of the line ones that they have to sell longer because they sell fewer of them. The 2003 models started coming out in Feb-March of this year. If you wait for the new model, you'll be waiting until Feb-Mar of 2004 until the new stuff goes out, so you'll be waiting for a while. If you see one now you like, but it... because the newer models aren't necessarily going to be "better" and you might hate how the new ones come out.

So if you see a deck you like, just buy it. It's not like your painting the car or getting a tatoo. There is nothing wrong with changing your deck every year or so.

sorry about the vagueness. better as perhaps more functions, more flexibility, something not offered in the same price range as before, or at least new models to drop the old model prices down . as for being able to buy a new deck every so often... id lose money like that, and id rather want something that i know i will be happy with. but yea all i wanted to know was that they put new lineups around feb-mar. still got a dilemma about which deck to get. looking for around 250 range.

Just do it. No point in waiting.
