Default Suggestions for a 8" sub?

Hey all,
I'm running a cheap 8" sub and enclosure right now and am thinking about upgrading the woofer. I opted for an 8" sub because i'm only looking for some extra low end for long distance trips and need my trunk space. i'm pretty happy with the woofer right but it does bottom out every now and then. what sub would you recommend? I'm not looking to spend too much. thanks in advance

Honestly, I would just Get a single 10", they barley take up much more room than the 8",

Like this one, its a 10" nice sub, it an alpine type E, 250 watt RMs

Plus it only 55 Buck, It will probably exceed your expectations

or if u really wanted to stick with the 8 id go with thi

any opinions on audiobahn? the frequency response looks better but i'm guessing there are other factors in a sub?

Audiobahn 831T 8" Subwoofer
# Power Handling: 200 watts R.M.S.
# Frequency Response: 30Hz - 1kHz
# Efficiency: 90.3 dB
# PHAT Foam Surround
# Non- Pressed, Non-Transfer Paper Cone
# KM3’ Coated for Virtually No Cone Distortion
# 1.5” 4-Layer ASV Voice Coil
# Dual 4 Ohm
# 2 Ohm or 8 Ohm Operation
# Mounting Dimensions: Depth; 3 7/16” Hole; 7” Diameter; 8 3/8”

audiobahn is complete garbage.

we need some details, what amp do you have and whats the RMS output of it?
is it a stereo or mono amp?
What type of box r u running? (ie sealed or ported)
is the box cheap along with the sub? if so dump it also

I would suggest a JL W1 8" or a W3 depending on your budget and amp. very clean difficult to bottom out and reliable. The JL 6 w3s are sick subs as someone mentioned before, but u would prolly wanna do two of them.

I've got two JL 8w6s that sound really good for 8's. Just purchased a set of 8W7s haven't heard them yet. But they look like they will sound good.

If you hav a diamond audio dealer locally, I'd check in to their stuff.

I have one of their d3 8" subs in one of their "transmission boxes" and it hits pretty damn good. I listen to a lot of hip hop and what not, and it sounds great even though it's only getting about 100rms @ 8ohm with the ppi amp I'm running.

Any thoughts on Kicker? I've been considering getting two of their 8" subs for a box in my hatch or maybe two of their 6.5" midbass to put in my doors with my other midrange in kickpanels and tweeters in the a-pillar.

As for the Kickers I was considering:
http://www.crutchfield.com/App...p=111

or

http://www.crutchfield.com/App...SSMB8
Thats their 8 inch mid bass, but I'm pretty sure I'd be getting their 6.5" but Crutchfield doesnt have it listed, so wasnt sure of another link to use. Kickers site couldnt provide a direct link.

As for my current setup and amps, I have a set of Alpine SPR-17C and SPR-17S that I'm going to run off a Kicker ZX650.4 (120W RMS x 4). My spare amp that I have is a Kenwood Excelon KAC-x40 that I figure I could bridge x2 at 200W RMS.

Thanks for your opinions

The kicker solobaric 8 inch woofers are pretty good. The work in a small box (.33-.77 sealed) and they are equivilant to a round 10.

Consider your box as well. A 300 dollar speaker can sound like complete **** in a crappy box.

Vice versa, a 20 dollar speaker can sound GREAT in a well built box.
