Default Sub Woofer recomendation please...

Ok, here's what I've got. Currently I'm running two old school JL 10's in a JL bandpass box. I'm pushing them with a Rockford Power 150.1. The subs are wired in parallel for a 2 ohm load. I'm selling this box.

New system. I've installed a Spoon rear upper stut bar in my car, and now only have about 7" between the floor and the bottom of the bar, and I want to put a new sub in to use with my old amp. I want something to be light, and small. I'd like to run either 1-10 or 1-12 in a sealed box. The box + the sub must fit under my bar.

What kind of recommendations would you all make? I'm going to keep the RF and want to run it at 2 ohms. Thanks for your input!

i would say go with alpine type S or R dual voice coil subs they sound the best and hit the hardest in the smallest boxes possible so if you want them to take up little room these are probley the best. I belive they recomend using a box about the same size as the subs come in.

the alpines are nice, but no where near the best out there. For the money, I'd look into another JL woofer in the w3 or w0 classes. Box wise, custom is the best option for your needs.

Thanks... I've already looked into the JL's cause I love JL, but they're too tall... I was looking at Image Dynamics. They seem to be real short. I've not heard a lot about them though. Anyone use these?

That's a concern of mine. I'd get like the IDQ12DVC, and run it at 2 Ohms... is my Power 150.1 gonna be enough juice for the speaker... Hmmm...

If you wan't to get really clever and do a stealth install you can do what I did in my 92 hatch. Build a sealed box into the area between the interior panel and exterior sheet metal in the space just behind your doors (on either side of the rear seat). It's the perfect size for a good 10" with a low VAS#. A sealed setup with like 200 watts each will totally rock. I have Audiomobile MASS 10" wired parallel to 2 ohms and getting 500 wats. it's incredible and the really cool part is no one can find the subs. plus i can still throw my bike into the hatch.

E-mail me if you wan't to know more.

Mike

Well Reefer, for a stoner like you I would recomend a JL 12", or the alpine Type R.

the lil' infinity 10" sub with the built in amp. damn expensive, but damn small and lighter than a full system. light = goooood, small = gooooood

IDMAX BABEEE!!!!

Seriously though it dosen't seem like you're going to be pushing a ton of power, I'd suggest the Perfect 12 or the Illusion ND12.
