SUB WOOFER BOXES
I just ordered a package from Crutchfield (2 12" Alpine Type E SUBS, Alpine 500 wat amp and box) I recently found out that my left sub rattles the side because it was put together poorly. I plan on ordering a new box but I dont know what ones are the best so I am asking for suggestions!
PLEASE Help
How about ENCLOSED BOXES?

just make sure its a good quality box and youll be fine. subzero is cheap and theyre made pretty well. your subs should also come with a guide for recomended size boxes ect check that out as well. as a rule of thumb (and someone correct me if im wrong i dont claime expertise) closed boxes are tighter more acurate and less bassy people say by not to much but with my experience id say theres a world of difference between open and closed. while open boxes or ported provide heavyer bass with an increased in drag time as i like to call it (time a note is extended due to the cone still vibrating) and less accuracy. basicly if you want heavy bass for rap or its sitting in a trunk go with an open box and if its in a hatch where you hear more of the actual speaker and less of the bass closed is usualy a good choice.
also this is all from personal experience knowledge so if someone feels like correcting me on anything go right ahead i wont be hurt haha.

Your close dylan_surrender sealed boxes produce a tighter more accurate bass, vented boxes will produce a lower F3 point, [deeper bass] and will be louder then a sealed box, [same sub same amp].
The above is a generalization, you can get loud, deep bass from a sealed box, and you can get clean, accurate bass from a ported box.
You will get neither with an over the counter box, you can get pretty good bass from a sealed over the counter box.
Look for a box that is made out of MDF, [at least 3/4"] get the right volume, not hard with Alpine type E subs, for 2 subs you need 1.6-3.4 cuft, the bigger the box the deeper the bass.
I have used 3 cuft gross prebuilt boxes with these subs and it works very well.
Hint, install bracing inside the box, along all seems, [small 1"x1"x2" blocks glued along seams every 5"-8"], seal the inside of the box with a wood sealer, [I use fiberglass resin], run a bead of silicon along all seams, predrill all your mounting holes.
The box needs to be airtight for best results.

agreed. but theyve gota be close to ideal setups for the best of both worlds. if your plan on using a over the counter box i agree and would say use a sealed box if its not loud enough get a more powerful setup or an extremely nice box fcm would know alot more about those things then me. haha he uses facts i use oppinions and personal experience.
