Default Sub placement

So one of my friends came across 8, 8in 300watt pyramid subs he sold one to me for $10. i was looking of a box then i thought can i jus mount it behind my back seats like on the plastic cover behind the seat. can this be done make it looks stock and sound good? ill try and post some pics of where i want to put it. thanks for any help or pointers this is my first sub install so any help will be appreciated.

oooh yeah i have a 99 civic EX coupe

you could, it should be powered by an external amp... and in a sealed enclosure..

take a look at the specs.....I'm not familiar w/ these subs but there are subs that will do fine free-air. Make sure you mount them on a very sturdy baffle.....3/4 or 1" MDF should be fine. Maybe this is 'old-news' but thought I'd mention it anyway

I'd play around w/ placement as well.....see how they sound firing towards trunk, ceiling and front-facing...pick what sounds best to you.

thanks for the advice but i did some measurements and it wont fit with out some major work so ill probably jus find a box and stick it in my trunk.

Is there a model number on the speaker, Pyramid makes/made more then a few 8""woofers", anything written on the center dust cap? 94

you mean the stickers on the back? it says PWF8X and under that there is a U aside for that it says 300 watts and 4 ohm.

i wouldnt

but i would save up and buy a quality amp and sub, put it in the right box, take out the rear dash speakers to let the bass in the trunk vent into the cabin

do it right the first time. it will save you time, money and headaches
