sub cuts off and on?
I just traded in the civic and got a Lincoln ls and I swapped the amp and cap from my civic to the Lincoln. The only thing different is my sub and I had to use the high input on the amp instead of rca's. Well got it all hooked up and its works except when you crank it up it will play bout 3 secs then shut off for a sec or two then play again for another 3 secs then shut off etc... the power light on the amp stays on the whole time. It never goes in to protection mode. I've tried 3 different subs and the same thing on every sub. The amp is a kicker kx1200.1. Subs a diamond d6 dvc 4ohm. Any help would be awesome. Thanks.
All connections seem fine. Ground is where the battery is grounded so I know that's good. Ill triple check just to make sure.. any other suggestions?
An amp should be grounded as close to the amp as possible, [ground cable should be as short as possible].
If you are using an "AGU" type fuse... http://staub.ca/catalog/partdetail.a...tno=AGU+60-5PK replace it, even if it looks good, if not an AGU fuse, what type is it and what size is it. 94

Your setup:

•mono subwoofer car amplifier
•300 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (600 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms, or 1200 watts RMS x 1 at 1 ohm)
2 DIAMOND AUDIO D610D4 10" 2000 WATT 4 Ohm DVC Subwoofers
◦Power Handling Max: 1000 Watts (2000 Watts Pair)
◦RMS Power Handling: 500 Watts (1000 Watts Pair)
If that is the case than I believe the way you have you sub wire maybe incorrect to meet the amp requirements.
Make sure your subs are wire correctly to give out the correct Impedence (ohms).
The correct amp with the correct RMS rating. Don't just go plugging it in the amp cause than you can ruin the subs.
RMS X #of Subs
500 Watt Rms per Sub and 2 Subs
500 X 2 = 1000 Watt RMS
Thus in order for the Amp and Subs to work correctly you would need to wire the subs to 1 OHM according to your AMP....
Here is a diagram... Thanks to www.the12volt.com

Also move your ground near to the source, the amp....
My Setup
(2)12" Dual 4 Ohm Type R Series Subwoofer Wired @4ohms
Power Handling:
Peak: 1500 watts
RMS: 500 watts
Impedance: Dual 4 ohms
500watts RMS X 2 (subs) = 1000watts RMS
AMP: Alpine PDX-1.1000
RMS: 1000 watts
1,000 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms

I just have one 12" d6 dvc 4ohm and I have it wired for a 2 ohm load. Just like I had it in my civic but I had a solobaric l7 in there. I've moved the ground to 3 different spots and the samething happens. Any other suggestions before I have to take it up somewhere? Thanks for the replies!
I would pull the sub and check the wiring, make sure it is "clean", no shorting frayed wiring.
Also check the tinsel leads, [braided leads running from speaker terminals to the VC] make sure they are not "folded" in a manner that allows them to touch each other or the speaker basket as the cone moves in and out, [short].
Is there any sound at all at the sub when it cuts out?
If there is, the problem may be the input, plug in another source or another set of the HUs RCAs. 94
