Which sub is better???
I ended up getting the Solobarics. I talked to 3 friends and 1 person i didn't know and asked them their opinions.. 2 of my friends used to work at a stereo shop, and the the other dude installs systems privately for competition. their opinions were impartial since none of them were trying to sell me anything.. so i trust them.
they all said go with the Kickers. they said that even though this isn't as high end as they would usually buy, it's still better then the W3's (even though the W3's is VERY decent in itself). It didn't really matter which one i got, since they're bot great.. but the solobarics sound better and have a higher rating and perfect for the type of music i'm going to listen to (drum and bass, jungle, breaks, etc..).
so there you have it. now i need to find some decent amps.

my friend had a kicker L5 and it hit pretty hard.. it was too tight IMO. JL was more smooth... cant really describe it but I personally like W3 better. But its all preference.
They L7 is suppose to sound really good..better the a W3..but i will never get another kicker product again.
JL's got my vote.
..buts whats your power, ohms, and money range..?

The L5 is simply a SPL type of sub. It will get loud and hit hard, but can it sound good doing it? No. If you want more of an SQ sub then the JL is the way to go. If you want SPL then get the L5. The L7 doesn't sound good either, it can just be used in different enclosure applications. A square speaker cannot produce bass as accurate as a round speaker which is whay you never see square component sets, etc..
in my personal opinion, the L5, L7 sound dry and hollow. i have 2 12" W3's and they sound awesome. 2 weeks ago I hit 145.5 dB on a music track, didn't even use a test tone. they sound clean and very smooth.

shoulda just got a 12w6v2 you would be ALOT happier.. but im guessing its all also based on funds also..listen to a 12w6v2 with a 500/1 jl amp.. in a sealed box.. that thing hits and with the w7 cant compare any kicker sub at all..JL is beyond kicker in every way amp vs amp and speaker vs speaker and the only thing kicker gots on JL is price.. and its not that big of a difference...

I have a L7 in one ride and a W3v2 in another.
The L7 hits beats more accurately. Much like a 10" versus a 12".
But the W3v2 throws smoother low frequencies. On really low and long frequencies with the L7, you can hear it vibrating back and forth.
They're both good for different types of music. But most of my friends, guys and girls, like the sound of the L7. It hits more accurately at higher frequencies. Its easier to blend beats from the mids to the subs, cuz you can overlap the frequencies.
There's definitely more speaker slap on higher frequencies with the L7 though. I keep the x-over at about 63Hz. On the W3v2's, the x-over's at 80Hz.

Isn't that the opposite of what you just said?
Alot of it is te enclose. L&'s should not sound "hollow". But the jl should sound a little better.

It should sound a lot better. If it doesn't then you need to have your system checked. L7's are square speakers. Shapes other than round have been proven to distort bass and be much more inaccurate.

believe it or not, the L7 has won SQ comps. its amazing what EQ's can do. not to mention the time put into the installation.

The L7 does hit more accurately at higher frequencies but at extreme rapid excursion, they tend to slap more than W3's.

eh?
eh?
i would tell you that you got ripped off and that kickers suck.. but i dont know what you paid for them so i will just tell you this... you really gave us no choice seeing as how the w3 and the l5 both are mediocre subs to begin with.. im not flaming you but depending on what you wanted in the sub the l5 is more for punchy base as where the w3 is more for smooth stroke and a deep note .... imo you should have either gotten the w6 or the titanium series audiobahn.... check http://www.ikesound.com they have good deals at times
JL hands down! (check http://www.ikesound.com they have good deals at times) This is true!
