Default Shift noise instead of shift light?

I just got to thinking what if instead of a shift light you had a noise that went off. Do you think that could be done? Maybe hook up the speaker that makes noise when you leave the key in the ignition? I don't know, was just curious if anybody else had some thoughts on this idea.

A light is a better method of alert than audio. That's why no company even bother with a SHIFT SOUND.

Now that I think about it I guess a light would be more reliable. Might be hard to hear a beep or something when you're at high rpm's...
