Default This setup sound ok?

Im planning on getting a very simple stereo setup for my 88 CRX. I dont listen to music with excessive bass, i just want clean, crisp, cheap and something lightweight. How does this sound...

- Alpine CDA-9856 w/ ipod adapter
- Alpine Type-S 6.5" component SPS171A for the front
- replica JDM basstubes for the rear speaker location
- JL Audio 6W0 subwoofers mounted in the basstubes (if they fit, otherwise i'd get some cheap subwoofer from a electronic supply store)
- Alpine 4x40watt amp MRP-F250 (no particular reason i picked this one)

Basically components in front, subs in rear. 2 channels from the amp going to the front speakers, and the other 2 channels bridged to power the rear subs. A subwoofer box is completely out of the question. The setup needs to be discrete, light, sound decent, and cheap. Im not to keen on car audio equipment so any suggestions would be appreciated, just keep it around the same price range. Thank you.

Drop the JL subs, use Alpine SPX-17MB... http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/p...-17MB and more power, the MRP-F450... http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/p...-F450

If you want to go with the JL Audio 6W0s or even the Alpines you will need more then 2x40W RMS of power to run them, clean accurate sound is dependent on having enough power, something like a JL 300/4... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...d=254 would be a better bet then the Alpine amp. 94

There is more then enough room in the sides, [stock rear speaker locations] for fiberglass cabinets that size... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...id=23

However I am not sure there is the 3.5" of mounting depth that the sub needs, [by the time you add the thickness of the box and clearance from the outside skin.

I have a set of Eclipse 6.5" 2ways, [tweeter disabled] mounted in custom MDF and fiberglass cabinets, [0.5 cuft net volume] in the stock rear speaker locations, in my 94 LS, same speakers mounted in the front, [tweeters working] all are running off an Alpine HU, I get very good SQ including bass response, and the system is more then loud enough for me. 94

These are the JDM CRX replica basstubes...

im not sure of the exact volume but do they look like they would be big enough?

but on the other hand im not even sure the JL 6W0s will fit because of the magnet...

BTW thanks for the advise.

Hard to tell how deep they are, but you may be right, they may not fit, you will need 3.5" of mounting depth and a little over 4.5", [diameter] of clearance for the magnet... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...id=23

The Alpine is just 2.8" mounting depth and magnet is only 3.7" in diameter.

Also the mounting hole diameter is 5.2" on the Alpine and 5.625" on the JL. 94
