Fogs + Kill switch?
OK I posted this up a while ago and finally got around to getting my fogs, and now with the new search and HT I can't find the thread again so I'm stuck looking like an idiot and re posting. Anyway, I was wondering how it would be possible to wire my fogs to only work when my parking lights are on, but still use the fog light switch as a kill switch. I don't know if that makes sense to you, if not I'll try and clarify.
A guy answered it already and had a nice diagram with some relays and crap, but obviously I don't remember who or what it looked like. Anyway thank for your input!

It would be better to put your kill switch on a diffrent switch. Unless its a starter kill which is useless on a 5 speed.
Well I have a starter and fuel pump switch, so I just want to kill the clutch so you can't start it if you don't know whats why nothing is happening (unless of course you roll start it). Why would it be better to use a different switch? and what would be a better switch to use?

Because a clutch kill is nonething more then a fancy starter kill. The car can still be pushed started or the starter wire jumped at 2 easy points under the hood. Fuel kill defeated by just pulling up the back seat and tagging 12 volts to it. Best bet and the most effective and easy to do is add a 1 amp switch to the main relay ground side wire. This will keep any theif from hotwireing the car. Relocate it from the stock location. Or make it look very stock so they can not figure it out.

But...it can still be done. Just not really worth it.
Basicly you'd use 2 relays. Cut the main 2 wires from the fog switch. One relay's coil is hooked in parallel with the parking lights, and it's output pins (I forget what's what) is connected to the fog wires you cut. When the parking lights go on, they turn that relay on, which activates the fogs. You could just wire them to the parking light wires, but it may be too much for your fuse or alarm's flasher relay.
The second relay gets hooked to ground and +12v, with the fog switch intercepting one of the wires. The output pins get hooked to whatever you what to kill. FYI you can use multiple relays or multiple-pole relays to kill multiple things with just that one switch.
As mentioned, there are ways to defeat this. However, the more layers (and stealth) you add, the longer it takes to steal the car. Every second counts IMO.

I'd be more concerned with someone hitting the switch by accident and killing fuel while driving. Depending on your engine set up you could run into an extremely lean situation and potentially damage your motor. I'd think it would be smarter to kill ignition somehow unless the switch is in a location that there's no way it could accidentally be tripped.
Just my $.02
