i bought a scosche wire kit i have a 96 vw gti where do i hook up the remote wire

You can use any wire. Most of the time the remote wire is blue, but as long as you know what's going on it doesn't matter. It's usually small (16+ ga), and can be found anywhere. I know of a couple of people who've used speaker wire.

ive used 20 awg wire, its not importasnt all it does is turn on your amp...

you can use jsut about any kind of wire. look at the back of your head unit and there should be labels on you wires that run into yout stereo. if not like they said it i usally blue but not in all cases. so most likely its a wire that isnt in use thats about it.
i have always used speaker wire for my remote...an dim pushin over 150db's
