naked wire on amp?
ok i have a JL 500/1 amp and there are 2 wires on the right side (mono output only) 1 on negative and 1 on positive both wires wrapped in the clear plastic cord...on the far left side there is the remote wire sticking out...but there is no covering for the wire?? is this supposed to be like that..im thinking maybe it got pulled off somehow but i can't find it. looked all tangled up and i had to sort it out and twist it back to straight. did i lose my cord cover? could the naked wire heat up badly? or is this normal?
an exposed wire is never good IMO.. get a spade connector (looks like a "U") that crimps onto your remote wire.. cut off the excess wire.. and crimp the spade connector onto the wire, shrink wrap the connection.. then screw it into your amps remote terminal.. if your talking about something else. .,. like a section of the wire/insulation was cut/damaged and left exposed wire.. i would fix that also..
sounds like the remote wire came out. All the terminals on the 500/1 take bare wire. I'm assuming that the amp doesn't power up now. There's 5 wires to that amp: positive speaker, negative speaker, power cable 12 volt positive, ground 12 volt negative, remote, and of course 1 or 2 rca's.
