Remote starter wont work???
Hi,
I have a 1989 Honda civic LX, and Ive installed a remote starter, "Auto Mate AM6", after installing it, it wont work.
I cross examine how this works and I found out that when I hit the "lock" button on the remote, it will immobilize the car, I mean even if you try to start the car with the key, it wont crank and start.
Then if I hit the unlock button, it "beeps" like a signal that its unlocked, then I start the engine thru the key and it did crank and start, but still not working if the remote is used to start the engine.
So basically the safety feature works. But the remote start engine doesnt work?
do i need to buy the "immobilizer bypass module" like 556uw?
or is there any other way to do it, so that the remote start engine will work?
I dont know if Im right about my observation, so please help me what could be the problem on this. Thanks in advance!

don't really understand what you are say. sounds like you have a starter kill relay hooked up. Correct? If so, your wires are backwards. When its locked/arm, it interrupts the starter wire. Your sending 12v to the switch and not the starter. Try remote starting it when its unlocked and see if that works. No bypass needed car is too old! Also, look over what cobb2819 stated.
if the starter kill relay is built in, and wired backwards, locked or unlocked it won't remote start because it will always output to the key side. there are a lot of variables here.
Its an auto, when I try to remote start, it doesnt blink the lights, but when I lock it, it blinks once, and when I unlock it it blinks twice.
I already tried to start it after unlocking, but nothing happens.
What is the starter kill relay? Im kinda newbie so, does all 89 Civic have this?
I forgot to mention, do I really need to connect something on the door trigger wire on the driver kick panel, so that this would work?

Problem solved!!!
It appears that, I forgot to reprogram it, because the remote start was USED before from a different car. We reset it, and broooooom it starts. Thanks for the help! I appreciate it!
