remote start only...
Are there any products out there that are really just a remote starter? i have tried looking around online but everything i find seems to have a bunch of other options that i really don't need/can utilize. Just want to be able to fire up the car from inside the house basically and have it blink the lights to let me know that it started.
thanks in advance.

You're going to have a very hard time finding a remote starter that has start only from a reputable company.
Sure, they're out there, but they're junk units, and will fail very quickly.
If you want remote start, buy a basic Viper/Clifford/Python and hook up only the remote start. All the wires are modular, so you don't even have to plug in the wires you don't need.

You know, I expected more out of an '03...

You're looking for something along the lines of these:
Viper 130XV
Python 1200XP
Valet 561R
Etc, etc, etc....

http://www.compustar.com/main.htm If you want a good quality remote start "only".
As mentioned, any good remote start will come with "optional" outputs, [door locks, trunk release, immobilizer and so on, but that does not mean you need to connect them up.
Just depin any control lead you do not need, or don't use the plug, and if you ever want to add something like power door locks, you already have the key-less entry R/F unit.
