Default Rear speaker install question...

I am looking at a set of rear speakers (6.5" 2-way).... would the use of some sort of baffle help with sound quality.. or should I just bolt them right up?

thanks

Will

If they are for your Integra, you might want to throw a baffle on the back side of the factory plastic as it is quite flimsy. You may also need to trim the outer edge to get the speaker flush. And as stated, dynamat wouldn't hurt while you are in there.

thanks for the help...

Would the dynamat be placed on the metal behind the speaker?

This was the kind of baffle that I was thinking about...

XTC 6.5" = ~$6.00 each...

they are perfect, I dont know of any other manufacturer of aftermarket speaker baffles besides XTC.
you always apply the dynamat to the metal surface that you dont want to rattle, if you apply it to the back of the speaker, or whatever else you were thinking, it would not be as effective.

Willard, rather than spending $ on an actual baffle, try using rubber maid #3 food container. Throw the lid away, cut the plastic above the lip, cut out holes for the wires and stick the speaker in the modified containter and then install the entire assembly. The lip on the container will sandwich between the speaker and the door holding everything in place. BTW, this sort of acts as an enclosure also so it'll kill some of your bass, but since it's rear fill, it doesn't really affect the sound all that much. BTW, Rubber maid container are $2.69 apiece + tax.
