RCA cables
What are good shielded RCA Cables for a good price??
I only ask because thats the reason why I am getting a whining noise on my component speakers, cheap RCAs with a bad ground. so I am looking for a decent pair for a decent price....
Recommendations please. I already know about Monster Cables, but cant shell out that type of money for cables right now, so something else would be nice.

because those have been changed to different locations and still sound the same. Some minor wire surgery was done to the current RCA's and they sound a little better, so I know I need to replace them with better ones.
Also they are not running on the same side of the power cord so its the RCAs. The same whining noise happens to what ever speakers they are plug into, so they are faulty.

Some Really cheap RCA's will allow some induced noise through. Most noise is from improper grounds somewhere in the electrical system.
You could buy your own cable and build your own. What do you consider a good price and how long of a cable do you need?

Like I said, the ground have been check in the whole audio system, and most of them were changed and no difference, so last conclusion are the RCA cables, cuz I know they are real cheap one with no shield.
Price under $20, for like 16" long.

The only time i have ever gotten alt whine is when the RCA's are too close to power/ground. Honestly ive used some shitty RCA's too without much probs. Right now im running some **** from Walmart. I forget what they are called, but they are dirt cheap and same as Monster Cable and such IMO.
You dont have any Y cables in the mix do you? Those will generate some noise too i have found.

actually i was thinking the opposite. 16 inches is a pretty short run
. i'm using 12' in my civic.

Heh.
Shorter cable = better.
Walmart sells Scosche brand Amp-kits in my area, they work fine. That is an option.
http://www.knukonceptz.com -- Pre-made RCA of various lengths, another option.
You can also build your own, but I'm generally discouraging that unless I'm dealing with a serious enthusiast...just too much trouble.
Concerning the noise: Don't be surprised if the RCA doesn't solve your problem. After you upgrade the RCA, if the noise persists:
1) Reground your amp; sand the chassis ground point down, keep ground wire length SHORT as hell, bolt it down securely, use large enough gauge wire, and protect the connection afterward with conformal coating or vaseline.
2) In general just check the wiring for the headunit, maybe rewire that more securely... check wiring all over the place and make sure it's secure.
3) Consider regrounding points in the engine, primarily Alternator to +Battery terminal, -Battery terminal to Engine or chassis, Engine to Chassis. Use no larger than 4 gauge for the alternator -> +battery connection. Welding cable is a good, cheap source of wire for this.
Done.

Ground are on both amps at the same place, as short as possible, the head unit was grounded at 2 different spots, on chasis noise got worst, then changed to the HU wiring harness ground, noise went away some what.

Sorry guys, I meant 16.' maybe i'll go with another set of cheap wires see if there is any change, wont hurt to shell out a few bucks, but since the electrician did some surgery on the wires its not that bad, but since I am picky its still annoy the hell out of me.

Can anybody confirm the most ideal length RCA from HU to AMP in trunk for an Integra? I was going to get 20', but is 16' sufficient....13'?? Obviously I want a little 'play' for routing and reconfiguring. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.
