Default Is this possible or too far fetched??

I was looking around online the other day and I saw that someone modified some connections to their HU (via CD changer connections) to link their iPod to it. They just plug in their iPod and the HU plays it as if it was a CD.

After seeing that, I was wondering if it was possible to do the same thing but with a removable flash drive. Would it be possible to rig up a USB connection to the CD changer connection on the HU and then just plug in the stick with your mp3s and then play it? It would basically be the same thing as any data CD with mp3s on it. The only thing that I am not sure about is if the flash drive stick needs an OS to function or if it can be read just by plugging into a USB port.

What do you guys think? yay or nay

Sorry if this seems a little confusing but this idea popped into my mind while I'm studying for finals so my mind isn't that clear right now.

He's right...You cant hook up a regular flash drive without an ecu, but if you just mount an MP3 player with either a memory stick or flash card input, you can just transfer from your computer to the card to your car...good luck cant be too hard

I think you were "duped" into thinking he made it.

Actually Alpine has an Ai-Net adaptor that connects your IPod to an Alpine head unit that supports this new feature. You can then put your IPod into your glove box, and control what song plays, etc from your alpine radio.

Why not buy a portable DVD player burn g Gigs of Mp3s onto one disc, then uses a LCD screen and a remote to choose your music. Never have to change the disc, and $1 more for another 5 gigs of space. Unlimited space, and you can watch movies with the chicks in your car.

Pioneer also has an adapter that will turn your changer DIN cable plug-in into an aux input for anything with RCA's. What kind of deck do you have?
