please help with my audio issues!
hey everyone, first time poster but long time meber. tonight my roomate gave me an old panasonic deck he had that no longer would read cd's. we installed it in the car and hooked up the oem "add on" cd player at the bottom of the dash. it is the seperate unit style by the shifter. it worked excellent with the oem deck and to my surprise the plugs matched up on the panasonic. to make a long story short now i have no power to the oem player and the aftermarket deck wont play cd's. is there a way to make it work with the panasonic deck? id really like to keep it as the sound quality is excellent and my stock unit had numerous broken buttons on it. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks everyone!<----steve
p.s- i searched as much as i could but didnt find anything to the extent of my problem

Well, I think it's just a coincidence that the plugs fit together... They're obviously not compatible, and because the pins didn't match up, you probably blew one of the two radio fuses in the vehicle. Unplug the connectors that you plugged in, and replace the fuse(s). And don't plug it in again.
must be a coicidence but no fuses blew, i reinstalled the factory deck and worked great then reinstalled the aftermarket unit to no success. i guess that confirms my gut feeling that it wouldnt work. it doesnt seem to get power, who knows. well to sway this to another topic, anyone have any ideas why the panasonic quit reading cd's? my roomate said just one day it stopped but absolutly everything else functions great. im not great with audio or model numbers but he paid 300 plus for it new so its a nice deck that id like to fix. any secret tips, or is this a common problem? thanks for the help! ive never been concerned with audio upgrades until hearing the quality of sound my car now has (even though its only fm radio
) it would be great if this was a relativly easy fix. i thought about using one of those disc cleaners but it wont even spin a disc. it loads and ejects very quicly and smoothly though. tia<---steve

If you look on the face of the headunit or on the casing for a large white sticker it will have the model number.i have personally had two panasonic headunits,i will never buy one again.for what u pay u can get a much better head unit for less.if u have the ability to,just buy a new alpine or pioneer.pioneers are very user friendly and alpines are a little harder to tune but have great sound sound quality.but if u intend on keeping the panasonic find a repair shop to check it out.
