CD Changer HELP needed
I have a '98 Jetta GLX with the Bose stereo.(I tried vwvortex but no one ever replies)
The oem cd changer is almost dead and I want to replace just the changer.
On Crutchfield the only 2 replacements it lists say one is for the changer with the round 13 pin connecter and the other is for a rectangular connecter.
My OEM Bose changer is an 9 pin.
Does anyone know a changer that I can use to replace mine or is there an adapter I can use to connect it to the 13 pin one?
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-f...0&t=0
Those are the 2 that crutchfield shows will fit my car by make and model but like I said mine has an 9 pin round connecter.
Any info will be great I don't know alot about car audio I just want a working cd changer that will read burned cds. I don't want to have to replace the headunit either.
I have heard that I can't replace the head unit without replacing the speakers cause the Bose system speakers all work on a different ohm frequency or something and they'll blow easily with a non Bose head unit.

Go to http://www.staub.ca and check PAC, Blitzsafe or Soundgate, one of them should have what you need

Thanks I found this: http://www.blitzsafe.com/blitz....html
But I don't know what it is. It says for for the 8pin connecter in the trunk, but what does it convert it to, what kind of changer can I then plug into it.
Sites kinda vague and I don't know much about this stuff.
I also found all these things https://www.soundgate.com//ind...d=167&
But for some reason when I click on 'Does it fit my car?' link I'm missing some font in my adobe reader and it won't open correctly. They seem expensive to just for an adapter.

Hmm, ok.
Is the panasonic you mentioned what I have in there now or is that what I replace the oem with?
I googled but couldn't find any panasonic changers with that model number.

VW used both Panasonic and Clarion sound systems and the "Bose" system in your car is probably using a Panasonic changer, the plugs are just different

PS when I Google Panasonic DP601 multi disk cd changer I get 65 sited, even found one that has a VW Jetta changer, http://www.auction-best-choice.com

I swear I don't know what is wrong with me but I can't find a single Panasonic DP601 for sale.
I get hits from google when I search it but it's just info or adapters, I can't find the actual changer anywhere.

Anyone know anything about these?</TD></TR></TABLE> They should have said, we do not sell what you need, Blitzsafe has the adpt. that you need to use a Panasonic changer.
When you use a FM mod. to get the signal into a HU, the SQ will suck, no better the listening to the radio, except the radio station follows you, you will never be out of range.

Damn $235 for the changer.
Thanks alot for just finding it for me. I was looking up the wrong number I guess, I wasn't putting the CX infont of it, I was just searching for DP601.
What's the difference between the 601 and the 610 cause I can find them both now with the full the part number.
Also is true since it's Bose if I just wanted to replace the headunit I would need to replace the speakers too?
I would really rather just change the head unit to something with MP3 compatibility if I don't have to change all the speakers out.

I found this, it's the 610:
http://rtgrim.com/store/cxdp610.html
But says it needs the VWPILD adapter and that cost's another $100.
http://www.thecarstereo.com/pr...01625
Is that the same adapter from blitzsafe?
http://www.blitzsafe.com/blitz....html
And any idea how much that costs?

As for the Bose system, I am not sure for the VW, but PAC, Blitzsafe, Soundgate and others make "Bose" adpt. for aftermarket HU, and if your VW uses a single Bose amp instead of an amp on each speaker, then the speakers are probably 4 ohm, so you would not have to change the speakers, just rewire them the the aftermarket HU

Yea, it's a single amp under the trunk deck.
When you say rewire the speakers do you mean I would run new wires to each one from the head unit?
Or could I just bypass the amp somehow?

You may be able to bypass the amp, as long as there are 8 wires for speakers at the Hu running to the amp, you could just connect the speaker inputs to the amp to the speaker outputs of the amp.
