Alright, So two weeks ago my subwoofers started "popping" periodically, usually restarting the head unit seemed to fix the problem, til one day last week when the subs shut off, it looked like it might be a combination of overheating and the popping, but who knows,

anyway, after checking the hondatech forums, it looked like a bad connection/ground my be the problem, I've had some problems with the ground before and usually reattaching it helps (same drill hole though)

This morning i checked the whole system visually, the power cable off the battery shows some damage

My question is, where do i go from here? My system is several years old (Hifonics Zeus, Two Kicker Comp-C 12"). Perhaps a new installation kit? with fresh wires and new ground?

 

keep the audio equipment i have a hifonics amp from 12 years ago and it still rocks lol

Ground and power are VERY important my 2cent get a new amp kit or if you have a place locally buy the wire by the foot

I would run something like 4ga wire it might be big for your amp but if you ever plan on going bigger the wire is already there.... power and ground should be the same size ....
you could use a small breaker up front instead of a fuse or use a fuse its your ride....

Also make sure your ground is solid clean, and clean of paint metal to metal...
you could use a ground block works great and looks nice..

do it right the first time and you never have to worry about redoing it ....or drive ur butt down to Dallas TX and i will do it for ya lol

ok, well.. hmm.. if your continually having to redo the ground.. and you power wire is damaged. then there are some installation issues here, just buying new amp kit will not entirely solve the issue, because it won't be long that the new wires are in the same condition. ok, first.. you say the power wire is damaged.. what do you mean by this? where in relation to the vehicle is the wire damaged? is it a break in insulation? melted insulation? explain.. also the ground.. do you scrape down to the bare metal when making a ground? do you use a ground bolt or an existing bolt? are you using ring terminals? how long is your ground wire?

Next... you say you reset your cd player and the problem corrected itself? how does your wires to your hu look and have you checked your signal rca's? they do go bad and can cause a short to the amps input, causing the amp to go into protect mode.

 

Ok, The power wire isn't damaged, sorry thats misleading, the contact to the battery is showing signs of wear, the ground is a ground bolt ... kinda, the ground bolt from the cheapest amp install kit i could find at wal-mart so its really just a contact, washer, bolt, tape set up, ethnic rigged, i know, but as earlier mentioned ill probably pick up a grounding block, also the signal RCAs are not the issue, as the "popping" persisted after i disconnected the RCAs, so i imagine thats a pretty good indication of a power line issue
