need help!!! reception of factory radio is horrible
my fm and am reception is horrible. i didn't really care about it until i got xm. now, when i want to listen to xm, i have to suffer with lots of static. what could be wrong? TIA

Been there myself. Check your antenna! It is almost 5' when fully extended. Should be 2 pieces. I found this out right here the other day when I was trying to get the Eagles (have XM for regular stuff) and couldn't. Found I had only 1/2 of the antenna out. Tugged the rest of it out and it works great!

yeah, i replaced the factory antenna with one of those rubber Autozone jobs that is supposedly amplified. I originally replaced the factory one because it wasn't working well. the rubber one actually works better but i know i should have a better reception than what i've got. Is it possible for the antenna lead to have somehow been disconnected at the head unit? And also, I've got a six disc that runs through the head and it sounds great. Could i hard wire the xm into the CD lead? thanks again

Yes, the antenna lead can become disconnected. Double check it's plugged in properly to the back of the head unit. It is a larger (about 1/8" wide) metal, male connector.
