Default Looking to upgrade my sub.

Well im looking into getting a single 12" type R for my ej1 and i had a few questions first.
my current setup is two 10" old school orions they sound ok with certain songs but don't really give me the good sound quality at high volume. I don't want to have annoying bass but i want something that sounds good and something that will make my nose ich lol for those who get it. I don't need to be heard for blocks just want good clean deep bass.

Would 400w or 500w but under powering the sub and im not sure to buy the 4 or 2 ohm sub incase i want to go to 2 subs later. Also which will sound better a ported or sealed box?

You need at least a 750rms amp for the type r.
Get the amp first. It can be stable at 4ohm, 2ohm, or 1ohm with 750rms.
Sealed boxes tend to hit "tighter" while ported boxes are more "boomy."

i think you are thinking of the 15" typer r. the 15" is 750w rms, the 12" type r is 500w rms so he will need AT LEAST 500w rms. i would recommend something around ~600w rms though.

well the 500w should be ok till i get a better amp right?
Ported will give more boom but a closed box should be tighter like hitting on point is this right?

i have two type r 12s 4ohm powered by a single thousand watt amp in a sealed box and it sounds very clean and hits hard. type r is the way to go. and i have mine facing the rear seats of my DC4.

Need the model of amps to tell you. You should really wait and get a better amp. If you underpower a sub it is more prone to "blowing" if you turn it up.
