Kill switch question
A kill switch pretty much turns off vital functions your car needs in order to operate. These switches are hidden strategically and the wiring is masked as OEM-looking wire.
This can include ignition (power to distributor), fuel pump (no gas going to the engine), and our personal favorite the main relay kill, which gets rid of various engine sensors and cuts power to the injectors.
Some are relatively easy to bypass, such as ignition kill and fuel pump kill, but will still take time and resources (wire for instance, cutting and twisting etc.) to defeat. Kill switches, in conjunction to an alarm setup, will make driving the car away a challenging task.
The merits of kill switches include ease of installation, ready availability of supplies, an opportunity to learn basic wiring tasks, and peace of mind.
EDIT: Oh, I forgot about starter kill switches too, which prevent the starter from activating via turning a key. Flaw here is that the starter 'toggle' thing (slide connect on the starter) is right next to a constant 12v, so that a touch of the screwdriver will start the vehicle.
