Default simple kill switch

I know the general rule for a simple kill switch is the extension can't be more than 5 feet.

Does this mean keep it under two 2.5' extensions totaling 5', or two 5' extensions?

I'm just trying to think of where I'll put mine, and if I need a relay.

Why can't the extension be more than 5 feet?

Fuel pump kill. I wanted to do the simple one (ver.1) but I'm not sure about placement yet.

I still don't see why you can't have more than a 5 feet extension.

Well you can, but I'd go with a thicker wire just to be safe... I'd do at least 12 gauge and make sure your connections are solid good luck.

The longer the wire, the more the resistance. I pulled that 5 ft figure out of my rear end though.

Total.

Resistance on the fuel pump wire will effect your fuel system.

fcm recommends you put the kill switch on the main relay.

The stock fuel pump wire is pretty long already. Here's a random site I found: http://www.proav.de/index.html....html

It lists wire resistances per 1000'. An 18 gauge wire for example has 6.6 ohms of resistance per 1000 feet. That means 5 feet of 18 gauge wire is 0.033 ohms. Pretty small....
