Default Sub Question

What is the difference between 2 ohm, and 4 ohm? I was looking at getting a Rockford Fosgate HX2, and I have no idea what the differences would be. Also, what would be a good amp to run one of these? I want 1 12. And is there really a point in getting a Power over a Punch? Thanks.

Is that an amp? How much for it? And I still need answers.

An Ohm is a measure of resistance. If you have an amp that can be run at a lower Ohmage(resistance) (dunno if that's a word or not ) you can make a sub louder at a given volume setting. Hope that's clear enough so you understand.

2 ohm is better than 4 ohm if you amp is stable to 2 ohm. in theory, the lower resistance in turn allows more watts to be put to a speaker, allowing it to be louder. That is why in certain classes of audio competition people would be in the low wattage categories with really loud systems. THey had amps that were stable down to 1/2 an ohm and they would wire several speakers in parallel to get alot of sound. If you can, pick up a little electricians wiring book and read about it. it makes alot more sense that way.

many and most new sub amps can handle 2 ohms. check with the manufacturer, its one of the basic stats they list. Like 200watts rms at 4 ohms and 350 watts rms at 2
