I Need Help Removing OEM Head Unit?
I would like to remove the OEM head unit in my 97 Integra LS and install an alpine head unit. I can not figure out how to do it. Can anyone help me? Thanks

Re: I Need Help Removing OEM Head Unit? (karguy777)
Although this is not a 97, the removal is the same, the access to the rear is a little harder and a Philips screwdriver will not work.
What I do is put a light in from the drivers side, [to shine up behind the console and back of HU] and then from the pass side using an 8mm socket on a universal joint, [swivel attachment] on the end of an 8" extension and a ratchet, [1/4" drive]
Once the 2 8mm machine screws are removed the oem HU along with the pocket will come out, be careful at how hard you pull on the unit, you may have to reach up in behind to release plug, what I have done a few times is once the oem HU and pocket are out a bit, [1"] I unscrew the 2 Philips screws, [one on each side of HU] that hold the pocket to the HU. It will give you room to reach up behind to release the plug and unplug the ant.
Anyway here is a g2, it should make it easier http://www.installdr.com/Insta...9.pdf 94
PS, you will notice even though the oem HU is held in with 2 8mm machine screws, one on each side, Honda in their great wisdom also put a back support hole in the middle of the rear support bracket that will line right up with the aftermarkets back brace location
Also you do know you need a kit and harness adaptor for your car, IMO the Metra ones are the best, kit 99-7892 or 99-7898 and harness 70-1720.
