HU Problem
I've got a Alpine 9830 h/u that up until now has been great. I've had it a year or so and it was slightly used when I got it. Well now it sometimes looses sound from the left channel. I have only noticed this after I put my Polk DB speakers in the front but it's on both the speakers on that side that lose sound not just the Polks so I'm thinking it must be the h/u. After adjusting the sound from right to left or so it will come back on. Does this sound like the H/U's problem? Any idea what might be wrong?
I did that today. I took the door panels back off and rechecked the speaker wires and the part I could see was good. I was kind of thinking it acted like a short somewhere. They seemed good so I retaped them. I then took the headunit out and rewired the whole harness. I didn't have them soldered before so I soldered all the wires together and re taped it. I'm hoping this fixxes it. Acts like a short to me but then again I don't know why playing with the h/u would make it start working unless it's just a random thing that has nothing to do with me playing with it.
BTW FCM you seem to know quite a bit about stereo stuff. Do you know how I'd go about adjusting the bass on the Alpine 9830? I know you have to do it by frequency but can't remember how to do it. I thought you hit menu then went the P-EQ then found user 1 or user 2 and hit band and it would take you to the menu but that's apparently not how you do it. The Country P-EQ setting doesn't sound too bad but I'd like to turn the bass slightly down and just turn the amp up so less bass comes through the speakers and more out of the subs.
