How do i do this?
How do i turn my amp into a mono amp. I hooked it up to a sub and it playes out music also not just bass. Is this bad for the sub. Is it ok to keep it like this or do i have to do something so it only sends a bass signal. Thanks
You don't need a mono amp, that just means it has one channel. You need to set your crossover correctly, if you have one. Make sure that it is set to low pass, and turn the adjustment *** until it sounds good. 80hz is a good starting point.
nope has no crossover...its a orion The Hott setup amp. It has a EQ IN and OUT and thats it. 2 channel amp. Its one of the weirdest ones i have seen but its got some power. Not even sure what the RMS or MAX is on this sucker and i don't know how to find out.

something like this is a sweet deal, although it looks like **** and is passive.

24db/octave butterworth with variable slope and subsonic filter at 20hz (if this was switchable to something like 35hz for you ported sub users..it would be great)
If your going to buy a crossover, I'd personally suggest some of the older Alpine EQ's that not only offer some equalization so you can tweak the sound a little depending on the track, but also give full control of your subwoofer crossover frequency and some boost control (plus..they are active..ie, in the signal chain before the amp)
Great for budget/beginner car audio, will last, and cheap (can be had for $35-40)

Yeah, I think that is active. I was on the diyaudio forum yesterday. There was a post with schematics for building a two way active crossover. It does not look too hard.
Since I am running out of stuff to squeeze into my car, I think a nice project would be building a pair of home speakers and sub

If you get stuck let me know.
