Default help with my system....

ok i have the alpine cda 7863 deck that says it puts out 60x4...now i also have polk dx6 speakers all around my integra. do i need an amp to run these speakers? is the deck powerful enough?

if i do need an amp how much power should i be running. the speakers specs says 2-40 rms...i was looking into a pioneer amp 40x4..

thanks

There is never enough power. So it all depends on what you want to do, what you wish it to be, and how much you are willing to spend.

If you are a regular guy, the HU should be enough to give you good sounds. Just don't expect it to be something it is not.

Keep in mind, once you start adding, you will have the need to keep adding. First amp, then sub, etc, etc.

So what's your game plan?

just remember the decks 60 watts is not the same as an amps 60 watts there's a difference between integrated circuitry and dicrete circuitry. the alpine deck has integrated which means the power is rated at peak power (max it is ever going to put out) the amps usually have discrete circuitry which is rated at rms power (least amount of guaranteed power) a big difference in clarity and performance.

60 watts deck power...is rated max, like the guy before me said.

Your actual speakers will see about 23-25 watts. (based on the fact that 50 watts max = 18.5 watts rms as usually tested)

Plus an amp will be cleaner, but don't underestimate the power of that 25 watts either...i ran two 12's in a full range truck box off my alpine hu and it provided some nice deep midbass )
