Default help w/ amp application...

ok....well my system situation is almost about to happen....my setup will consist of 3way 6.5"s in the doors and in the rear ( i have a 90 civic hatch ) tweeters up front with a rockford fosgate 12" hx2 sub. what watt amp would i need to power this? btw i would rather have an amp with a lil bit too much power so i can tone it down some and not have an amp that has just enough power and max the hell out of it.....TIA...i know i sound funky...but i dont know that much when it comes to sounds....<<< performance guy in need of good sounds....thats all

you can run your speakers off your deck if it has some decent power, if your looking for something cleaner, or the new speakers can handle more, get a 4 channel amp to power them (a rockford 400.4 will do just fine, pushing 50w rms to all 4 speakers)

and for the SINGLE (if i'm correct..) sub, I'd suggest a rockford fosgate 360.2 bridged (360w rms @ 2ohm) To do this your HX2 will have to be a DVC or dual voice coil sub, which would make it look like 2 speakers to the amp.

You can also get away with a rockford fosgate power 200.1, which is mono block (made for subs..more efficient) but it will not deliver as much power. You would want to buy the 200.1 if you cannot get a DVC sub, and don't want 2 12"s in your car.

If you have any specific questions, ask me before you make any unsure decisions, I know tons about the current rockford line because i just bought my sub amp (a bd500.1, way overkill for me...too much bass for my tastes...)

Is it just me or has RF gone down hill since the days of the Punch 150 HD?

Yeah, that's the general consensus. I remember the days when people took a single punch 45HD and wired a full system to it. Some people say the same thing about PPI amps and a/d/s too. And when amplifier companys made amplifiers, speaker company made speakers. Today, everyone makes everything!!!
