well if it stays on, its hooked up to a constant power source like a power wire.... u need to look for a blue wire comming from the deck.. blue or baby blue, might not come from the harness, but directly from the deck.. hook it up to there and it should be fine.. also called remote turn on wire or power antenna

uhh, amp should be fine.. also make sure u have no stray wires from the power side reaching over onto the remote turn on wire/power antenna because trust me, one little wire over onto that side can keep it on also.. umm other then that, that should be it, and it should work fine.. doesnt sound like an amp problem.. just a wireing problem, easily messed up but also an easy fix..
try it and let me know what happens..
good luck!!

buy a damn wiring harness then match color to color...Makes life so simple...Then get a amp that you hook up RCA;s to not no bogus style like hooking up the rears...You'll fry those wires plus they wont be able to send that strong of a signal to it...

i did buy a harness actually... and i do have an amp, but it's only powering my front speakers...i have a mono amp for my sub...was planning on running the rear speakers from the deck... thanks for the suggestion anyway tho... i know this may be really simple to you guys but this is my first crack at anything to do with car audio so excuse the newbieness please...
anyway, the rear speaker wires were purple/green... i had wired them right, so i just rewired incase there was a bad connection... but still no cigar... no rear speakers... so i guess i fried the wire like someone mentioned??? any other suggestions or should i just bite the bullet and pay a pro to do it?
thanks for your advice and patience btw dudes

u know what.. also, heres a couple of things u can take into concideration..
1) make sure ur deck settings are correct, that the fade isnt alway to the front..
2) if ur front speakers are very loud, u might not hear anything out of them..
3) double check to make sure ur rca's are plugged into the front outputs from the back of the deck..
4) make sure wire connection is clean from any snips..
5) make sure speaker wire is still plugged in the speakers..
not sure if any of this is you.. but there possibilitys that u might wanna check out.. if not.. then u got me stumped
goodluck
