Help deciding on alarm system
This will be my first alarm install and i'm pretty sure I can do it on my own, just slightly unsure untill I acutally put it in and get it working. Anyways I've narrowed by option down to two alarms. I was really considering the Clifford rsx3.5, heard good things and comes with cf style remote. Then I can across the matrix 50.5, seems like the same thing but has a crazy one-mile range. So the question is, is it worth around 60 bux extra for that long range? Any other info about these two (pros and cons) are much appreciated.
I would go with the 50.5 just for the extra range. I currently have a Viper 5000 and will be swapping it out for a 50.5. Add a back up battery and a hidden piezo siren inside of the car. The good thing about DEI products is that they are installer friendly.
did you have any range problems? b/c the big thing about the 50.5 seems to be the range advantage, but is that extra long range necessary?
I just caved in and ordered the clifford matrix 50.5x, now to just wait for it get delivered and installed. Anybody have an idea on how long it should take me so I can figure out what's a good time to reserve for installing. It's my first alarm install but I can do other wiring like car audio without any problems and properly.
I haven't had any range problems but I don't really like the delay that the 5000 has. But if the 50.5 can come close to a mile in range then I will get it. As far as how long it will take you is kind of hard to say since we don't know your skill level and it is your first alarm too. Just have patience and make a to do list to help keep you organized

If it's your first, and you want to do a good job hiding everything, allow yourself at least a full day, possibly two.

Wow. Great reply. Did you even bother to read 3 posts up where he actually said that he ordered a 50.5???
