Default installing Millennium FX pager

I was reading the instruction on the FX pager but wasn't too clear...then again...this is my first time installing alarm system. Can someone walk me thought it? I currently has the factory acura alarm and is about to install the pager. I am thinking about hooking it up to the car directly instead to the existing factory alarm. Is this a good idea? thanks

... Than you will need to purchase a after market antenna to maximize your paging distance... Other alternative (illegal) are to hook up a inline antenna booster...
The one that I use is for a "Bear" tracker 2345 that puts out 25 watts... It is modified to put out 2.12 watts more than the standard 4 watt pager... The distance is aprox. (consistant paging) for me is 3.45 miles...
Teken, would you please elaborate on this? I've been using this FX pager, but haven't been too impressed with it's range. Are you using an alternative antenna, or a booster? Is this the same type of booster one would use on an FM antenna to increase it's reception (vs. broadcast)??
Any links or info as to how we can try to do the same range increase?
tia.

I'm often not getting the half mile range quoted from the manufacturer... Not good at a mall for me either, I lose the signal pretty quick going indoors at those places... And bad weather affects it as well.

I'm hoping Teken can help with the range boost; I certainly need it!

Thanks, Teken...
I am grateful for, and humbled by the knowledge that you just shared with us. Sadly, most of it is beyond my expertise, but your second post gave some helpful tips I didn't ever think about.

Every bit helps!

I'd say most likely... The manufacturer claims a half mile range, which I have verified outside in good weather (eg. watching an outdoor sporting event). 300 feet should be no problem at all.
(I highly recommend this unit, due to it's ease of installation and features covered! I added a hood switch to mine as well.)

Thanks again,my GSR has just been stolen,i was very fortunate to have recovered it the same night and i know i may not be that lucky the next, and a big factor was the car was outside not to far away and they were able to take there time, and get right threw the alarm like it wasn't there,so i think this may be somthing that gives me a better chance.

It will be easier to wire it in with the existing alarm. The wires for the door and hood sensors, 12v power, ignition key sense, ground, etc are all in one location and can be easily tapped into. The one difference will be, if wired "to the car" it will activate independently of the alarm as soon as you remove your key, wheras "to the alarm" will activate the pager when the alarm is activated. So what you should do, and what I recommend is that you tap the wires for the pager functions at the alarm harness, with the exception of the brown wire (if I remember correctly) from the pager brain. This will allow you to take advantage of the wiring that is already there while allowing the pager to be activated independeltly of the alarm.
