Default Help with capacitor

I was just wondering if anyone knew how to charge and discharge a capacitor. My friend wants to sell me a 1 farad stinger for $40.00 is this a good price. He said it was 4 months old and he never "beat it"???

Yes that is a good price.

To charge and discharge the capacitor you use a resistor.

To charge it hook up the ground to cap - terminal then hook up the resistor to the + terminal. Then touch the power wire to the resistor. Wait awhile less then a minute the cap should be charged. You can check the cap if charged, by testing to see if the cap has approx the same voltage as your battery.

To discharge disconnect the power wire. You a resistor and touch the + terminal with resistor to ground.

As per wiring the cap to your system put it in line with your sub.

Postive to cap, ground to ground, pos from cap to amplifier.

The resistor I use is a 300 Ohm resistor or approx that value.

By the way the resistor will get warm!!!!!
