Default just installed.....

i wired the cap correctly yet wasnt sure if it was charged since its not digital..so i was told that if the amp doesnt turn on that means the cap isnt charge.,...how would i go on about doing that...i really need someones help

the amp will turn on, because it will still draw power from the alternator/battery. it'll just not be able to draw much due to the fact that the cap is still trying to charge. it will take a while for it to fully charge, because 1farad is a BIG fricken cap (and charging isn't linear at all... if I remember from oh so long ago, it increases like, 63.6% or something... damnit I don't remember but it's an ugly curve and it approaches 100% for a longass time before hitting it.)

to charge the cap properly you should have a resistor. make sure the resistor is 20 to 50ohm with 1W power handling, get the resistor with the power wire going to the cap.. then hook it together and in no time the cap is charged enough to drive and use.

more info here. if your battery is weak, increase the resistance to 1k and then add an overhead map lamp in series to have an accurate gauge of when it is finished
