Default Help - 3G Integra head unit install

I'm installing an aftermarket headunit into my 3dr integra (97) and I'm having the hardest time securing it down tight.

The original cd deck had mounts in the rear of the headunit, which the new one obviously does not.

I am using a Metra install kit, which gives me the option of using ISO-DIN mounts (which bolts the stereo from the side to the kit) or the conventional cage method.

The cage method I opted not to do, since there is nothing to the side, bottom, nor top that i can firmly secure against..

For the side DIN, the deck ends up secured against the metra pocket, which itself is not truly secured exept for some tabs against the front edge. With my deck in, the deck/pocket is very loose..

When you peeps installed ur deck in the integra, did you essentially have to customize some brackets so that the unit is bolted down? any help would be appreciated!

Sleeve.
Duct tape.
Pocket from under OEM radio.

Duct tape sleeve to pocket.
Insert into hole.
Duct tape sleeve to anything duct tape sticks to.
Slide radio into sleeve.

you sir are an idiot....what person right in their mind would ghetto rig a headunit with ducktape u friggin ricer?!
anyways..to answer ur question...this had me puzzled for a while too..wat u do is look at the little triangle-like tabs on the top and bottom of the deck...when u slide it into the plastic trim kit u should bend the tabs at a 90 degree angle so the deck won't come out...simple as that...no mounting kit or anything of that sort like the factory radio...wish mine had one tho.

You should be able to use plumbers tape to secure the factory pocket. Then use the sleave.

How about a MECP audio technician? Believe it or not, it's one of the best ways to keep a HU in for a 3G Teg.

I like the "friggin ricer" comment.
